Branding - Redesign an old logo and the creation of a complete identity with strong symbolic visuals and content - time schedule development.
Client - A hatha yoga center named Surya, in the heart of Antwerp city. Owned by David Somers who learned the art of yoga at a young age. His father - who has been a teacher for many years - thought him the way.
Story - Tradition, values & connection: Surya means sun, which depicts the center of the logo. Mountain climbing and surfing are the owner's favourite hobbies. The basic shape inside the logo is that of a yoga practitioner in a dhanurasana pose, which was the old logo passed on by the father's yoga school. All the symbols are connected in a celestial circuit. The moon orbits around the sun balancing out the changes of energy. Action, rejuvenation and new beginnings versus stillness, releasing and meditation. The logo connects past, present and future. Reflecting where you come from. Reframing what you stand for. Your values, passion and habits. Creating yourself and growing in a positive way. Who you are as a person and how you connect to your environment.
The stationery combines all the elements mentioned before in a strong coherent image. The business cards, flyer and poster is an interpretation of cosmic bodies and astronomical shapes in a metrical relation.
The time schedule is inspired by a pendule system and the shape of the logo itself. The feeling of balance and flow creating momentum. Every icon on the time graph illustrates a different type of class.

Jean Bosco Safari, her husband, singer-songwriter and performer. Together with the management team they are De Beestige Bende, the organisation behind this project. The books were published by Johan Vergrote, owner of the Bibliodroom.
Story - Equality, affinity & culture: The intention of the animal stories and songs are about feelings. Therein every child can relate irrespective of their differences and fears. Children mirror themselves in the eyes of another. With these books we hold up a mirror and say; you are good as you are! Every child is unique and equal, with his or her own personality, values and talent. That is what makes us strong. This connected awareness creates a balanced world. With this message we want to give them confidence, courage and strength to conquer their doubts. Believing in yourself starts with accepting who you are.
The logo unites and shares all these attributes; care for one another, gentleness and identification. Showing equality in diversity. Not being afraid to leave your personal print and touch on your environment. " Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
The show is about spreading this message in a subtle yet convincing way. Bringing back the potential, joy and vitality of real storytelling. Benefiting bonding, family time and togetherness by giving an open learning experience.

Back in 2013 three promoters from three different crews (Next Level Shit, Foot Juice and Mint) decided to put their heads together to come up with new means to promote their local beat scene. The result: Champion Sound, a Belgium based concept that serves as a platform for promoting talented beat makers and producers.
Champion Sound is a record label promoting young, alternative and independent beat makers. It gives producers from home and abroad the opportunity to present their skills to the outside world through exciting battles. They have also been selected as the curators for 22 tracks, leading the Brussels Beats section.
The symbols of the logo include different elements of beat making such as turntables, vocal or music recorder and a classic mpc drum machine. The mic also displays a cup title with a number one, awarded only to champions.
The imagery brings the atmosphere of originality, style, proudness and black street culture. These photos by streetetiquette (slumflower), where never used for publishing. Only to present the art direction.
Graphic design & concept development - Menu design of the new gin card - work out a concept around the promotion of magnum wine bottles every last Sunday of the month.
Client - A 30 year old Antwerp based restaurant and wine bar, Pasta Hippo Vino also know as The Antwerpse Pasta Maatschappij (APM).
Story - Humor & heritage: The flyer is a mix of classic and vintage look in combination with some humor. The link is made with the famous vintage series Magnum P.I. People never like to get caught drinking too much, especially big wine bottles. That's why they have to stay undercover like a private investigator on a mission.
Since Gin is all about heritage and tradition I chose for a menu style which reflects this - the alcoholic drink is born in Belgium and the Netherlands. The restaurant is Antwerp based, so an old map of Antwerp and its famous river de Schelde is shown. I was inspired by a Bombay Café in London called The Dishoom.
Both projects were created in a seperate context.
